Equipment Status, 11-6-09:
Do not use 2.5 minute exposure times for data
collections, since the data collection may stop
as soon as 15 minutes, but probably within 6 hours,
due to a probable software problem that Rigaku is
investigating. 5 minutes was tested for only a couple days,
and was o.k. "Typical" exposure time (10 minutes) data
collections stop prematurely perhaps 10 to 20% of the time.
Just restart the data collection.
Moe and curly have new/better mirrors, detectors, and
inverted phi axes. If you will need a long crystal to
detector distance (about 300+ mm.), moe would be the
preferable unit to use, since its beam diverges less.
In order to determine the approximate X-ray filament
lifetime on moe, which has a new cathode, I will let
the machine run until the filament breaks. The estimated
time the moe filament will break is after March 1.
