PIF2ASC
Function of the program :
Convert the PIF format to many kinds of ASCII format and vice versa.
Purpose of the program:
The first version of PIF2ASC was written for convert the EM reconstruction map from PIF format to TSB ASCII EM format. The latter format was used by Dr. Michael Rossman's EMFIT program. Later, more functions are added to the program to support many other ASCII format. Both the PIF map and PIF boxed images can be converted. Requested by Ricardo Bernal, stacked or separated ASCII format can be converted to or from PIF so that the package SPIDER can read PIF images. Later, X-plor format are supported by the request of Dr. Sergei Pletnev when he want to convert some X-ray map to test the program EMFIT. PIF2ASC now is widely used at Purdue to do many conversions between different software systems.
Usage of the program:
