Purdue
Interdisciplinary Center for Ecological Sustainability (PICES)
Ecological and evolutionary biology is studied in a variety of departments
on campus. PICES is a coordinating
organization that links these efforts. The aim of PICES
is to integrate the process of discovery, learning, and engagement
in ecology across disciplinary boundaries. Graduate student access
to PICES is through graduate programs located in participating departments.
Students interested in applying to our program should apply to the
department of their choice. Students can develop multidisciplinary
graduate research committees by including faculty from any of the
PICES departments on their graduate
research committee. Multidisciplinary plans of study can be developed
by using courses in any of the departments participating in PICES.
Graduate Student Funding Opportunities:
We have a funded fellowship program in multidisciplinary ecology
through a GAANN grant from the US Department of Education. This
grant begins 1 Aug 2003. [for details, press
here]. Research assistantships with various faculty and teaching
assistantships are also available in the participating departments.
